Scott MacIntyre is a piano prodigy, he was born blind, who was then faced with a life-threatening kidney disease at the age of 19, which resulted in a kidney transplant. He then made it to Season 10 top 8 on American Idol.
By Faith, Not By Sight is a fantastic read. This book is a documentary about the life of an amazing and successful man who has been blessed by God. He overcomes obstacles to reach where he is today. This is a moving story of hope, faith, and persistence, it will fill you with encouragement as well as inspire you to keep pushing on through your life. It is not preachy, or a self-help, but it encourages and exhorts the reader to see life in a whole new light.
I loved reading how his mom helped him to look at people when they talk, even if he can only see a square inch at a time. She taught him manners, as well as treating him and communicating with him as if he could see. She took him to the beach and let him run to experience the freedom of being able to just let go and not worry. Scott’s story is about how God used his family, to give him life, faith, determination, and experiences most would only imagine. Learn how he overcame his disability, how he made it into the music industry and how God taught him that in all things, that He is in control.
