It’s Not The Time To Breakdown

Google Image 30 days of Truth is about bringing out the best in yourself. Also, to let people see the “real” you through what you write. For thirty days I will write about myself, I will dig deep and I hope you can start this journey with me. 30 days of Truth; Are you ready!?

Day 13 – A band or artist that has gotten you through some tough days. (write a letter.)

I usually don’t have 1 band/artist I like, but however I will write to Daughtry.

Dear Daughtry,
I would like to thank you for helping me through the past year. When I purchased your CD, I was ecstatic! I couldn’t wait to get it in the player so I could jam out to it. Your music, to me, is inspiring, your words are touching, and your voice well, is hot, I mean, your voice goes over well, haha!
So, back on track. I am writing to tell you thank you, really. When I heard the song “Breakdown” I knew then, I needed to change my life. So, I did. I sit here a different person than I was a year ago. Listening to “Breakdown” helped me so much with my marriage. I knew I couldn’t breakdown again.
When the song started about “Open up the book you beat me with again” – I thought about someone beating the bible into me. (Which I needed it). I sat down for days reading things over and over in my Xtreme bible.
Next lyric of “read it off one sentence at a time” – I did, I read it to myself, out loud, one sentence at a time.
I am tired of all the lines, convictions, and your lies. What right do you have to point at me.” – I felt as though, I was lying to myself, and I was pointing at myself. I was telling myself that I didn’t need to open up, or talk about my feelings, or what I was thinking. I was covering up all my walls, and building them higher, but never really understood why.
Anyway, the whole song as made me a better person. A person who now tells it like it is, a person who no longer peeks through a window. I am now keeping my love together.
Keep rocking guys. You are changing the people who listen to your music, and sending different messages to each listener. One song may mean something to you but someone else might view the song totally different. Continue being different, and I will continue listening.
Thanks again!
~Jenna

  3. Great song. Great band. Isn’t it amazing how a song written by someone we don’t know in the least can be a total fit for our lives. It makes me feel like I’m not alone. I’m not the only one going through this situation… 🙂

    • totally how I feel! YouTube kept stealing my videos, so I just went to their site and added all of their songs to “mylist” lol! I was reading through forums and fans were saying that Daughtry is leaning more Christian Rock Band, kinda like Creed. They dont want to branch out that far due to they want to be able to write and play what they want. I think it is so neat though, regardless.
