Changing You

It is amazing how our past can dictate how we act/think today. Things good and bad can totally change who you are. The past can change who or how you act by the walls you throw up to protect yourself, or by the way you always wander what others think or say about you.
Do you let the past control who you are?
Do you wear your emotions on your sleeve/bottled up inside?
Do you throw a wall up because you don’t want to get hurt, yet again?

Just know your past is the past. Everyone has a past, but figure out how to learn from it. Learn how to not let the past have control of you. Teach yourself to be at peace with it. No one may know your dark secrets, but I am sure someone knows exactly what you are going through and possibly going through worse than you did. You may think you are the only one going through hard times/you may think no one has been where you are, but just remember there is someone who has been there and may even going through what you have been through plus some.

The only person who can change your thinking into positive thinking is you. You have to teach yourself how to be at peace with your battles to overcome them.

Just remember you are NOT alone.

Brethen, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those thing which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:13, 14

  1. Yes, we are in charge of our emotions and letting go of past hurts is the beginning to healing our past. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Do true – “we are in charge of our emotions and letting go”. If you want it to be done, or if you want it to change, YOU can make it happen ๐Ÿ™‚

    Beautifully put, and whole-heartedly seconded.

  3. The best advice someone once said to me once, “mistakes don’t always tell who you are….sometimes, they’re just mistakes you made.”
    Great verse.

  4. Thanks for the reminder about learning from the past so that we can change the future.

    • You’re welcome ๐Ÿ™‚ It is also a reminder for myself. We can’t change our past but we can learn from it.
