New Medicine means 5 pound gain!

So, I was put on medicine due to having 4-5 infections since the beginning of the year. They decided to put me on another antibiotic this month (I just got through taking another antibiotic last month). I have noticed during the time I am taking medicine that I am hungry, more than normal. I started craving foods that I haven’t had in over 6 months (Hot fudge brownies, and etc). Well in the last month I have gained 5 pounds! Sucks, right? I know. The demon in my kitchen that larks beneath me as I try to shoo him away. The cravings got so bad I was “smelling” the brownies, yeah I knew I had to do something, but I don’t know how long I can go on like this.
On another hand, it is not just the brownies, but it is now the fact that I have to take this medicine when I go to bed and I am OUT for 12 hours. There is no waking up to go pee, or waking up wondering what time the clock says, or if hubby got up to go to work, OH NO… I am out… ZZZZing for 12 hours straight.

Blah! New medicine… You suck, just so you know.
My tests for my ultrasound and other things all came back fine, but I still have to take the medicine for another 3 weeks… I am really debating on calling them to “switch” my medicine… I hate feeling drowsy!

  1. Just wanted to say ALL RIGHTY THEN! About them changing them meds. So happy for you girl!

  2. My medication made me gain weight too, and I just accept it. I eat fresh crushed garlic to help. Be sure to take a Probiotics b/c it will put the good bacteria in your body while on antibiotics. It works wonders.

    • They are switching my medicine starting Wednesday so I hope it works. I hate taking meds, but if it will make me feel better than I will do anything πŸ™‚ (Didn’t know about Probiotics, I will remember that!)

    • Did they change your meds?

    • Yeah!!! Start taking it tomorrow πŸ™‚ Finally! haha Now back on track to lose the 5 pound gain

Oops, that’s not so good eh?

    • Ohh no lol! I am on my mission to lose weight. I did lose 30 pounds but now I gained 5 pounds in 1 month. I know I will lose it, but I still have a month of medication to take.

  4. That completely stinks! I hate having to deal with reactions that new meds bring. I am so sorry you are sleeping 12 hours and still feeling sleepy. Seems like you got my sleep. I went for two months with little to no sleep. I know we will get our bodies back from what ever depth of the abyss they have fallen into. πŸ˜€

I know I would be calling the doctor complaining about all the sleeping and cravings. DANG! Hugs! πŸ™‚

    • Thanks Shonnie! Maybe I can tell me I “accidentally” flushed my meds haha! I don’t think he would like that too much.

I usually only sleep about 6 hours and I am okay. When I don’t take my medicine I am awake between 9-10am, but if I take it whatever time that night I took it is the time I am going to be waking up the next morning.
Ok, I am scooting out the door to call my doctor, maybe he will be easy on me.

  5. Sorry to hear that.
