2013 in review

Sorry I have been MIA on updating you guys with everything that is going on in my world. A lot of new things are happening, as well as a lot of bad, but we never give up praying. We have huge news coming in 2014, so just bare with us! I can’t wait to get back to updating you guys on our journey. Jade is still dealing with food allergies, and I am learning to adjust to the new way of living. I am even teaching myself how to cook (I know, don’t freak out). I have cooked Spinach Artichoke Dip, Banana Pudding (even if it was instant with real bananas Again, don’t judge me) hahahah!! ๐Ÿ˜‰
I am also getting ready to pack again, but you will just have to wait to figure out why!
Since August 2013,ย  I have started a Food Allergy Support group for our area: West Georgia Food Allergy Support Group. Our first meeting is the 21st and I am so nervous! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us. When Jade was diagnosed I didn’t realize how many people was so unaware of food allergies, even for myself. I am now pushing with all the other food allergy awareness that epipen training should be like CPR training, and should be mandatory. Did you know that bus drivers in our area are not properly trained? However, as of 2014 they will be! My voice is being heard, and I am so excited about making a difference.

Anyway, I will leave you with this note:
“Never give up hope, always trust in Him, and everything else will fall into place. If people walk out of your life, then hold your head high and smile, because you can show them you can make a difference rather they are with you or not.” — From Me!

I wish you all the best in 2014 and I will be back, so hold your horses! And for the ones who have been checking on us, thank you!

God Bless You in everything you do!
Jenna

Btw – I am active on my book blog: Werejumpinbooks.wordpress.com So come on over if you enjoy books!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

Madison Square Garden can seat 20,000 people for a concert. This blog was viewed about 62,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Madison Square Garden, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Weight-loss Plan

When I first started my weight-loss journey people would often ask ‘what diet I was doing or starting’. So, here you go how I am loosing weight, my own style.

1. I watch what I eat. (not just it going into my mouth) I watch my calories. I eat Lean Cuisines/Smart Ones/grilled vegetables. I try to not take in more than 300 calories for lunch. Breakfast is a small bowl of cereal, or a banana. Snack is a sweet. Supper is something simple, but sometimes not, just depends.
I don’t like how people find a diet and think it will work for them. I wanted something I do myself, without getting rid of everything I love to it. I believe the biggest thing in loosing weight is self-control.

2. Eat sweets before 6pm, so that way your body has time to get the sugar out of your system. If you go to bed with sugar in your stomach than your body is resting, your body then stores the extra sugar as fat.
What!? I can have sweets?? OH YES! But don’t over do it.

3. Drink tea, flavored water, or diet sodas. I have really cut back on sodas, but sometimes I crave them. At least with a diet drink it is 0 calories and just drink it before 6pm (remember sugar). Also, if I get a 20 oz bottle, I will not drink the whole thing. Also, I can not drink plain water. I get sick to my stomach. So, you can packets to pour into your water. 0 grams of sugar, and only 5 calories per glass! Fruit Punch, Grape, Blackberry Grape, and the energy packs are my favorite! ๐Ÿ™‚ Yummy to my tummy, haha!

4. Workout – elliptical/Wii/Outside
I try to workout for an hour on the Wii then 15-20 minutes at night on the elliptical. I also watch calories then try to burn half of the calories I take in that day. Example: If I take in 1000 Calories then I try to burn 500 calories. That would be 30 minutes on the elliptical. I know sometimes it is hard to track your calories as with being a SAHM I tend to forget to write down my calories. I use to use Sparkpeople but never really took the time to learn the website, but it does have a great way to watch your calories and keep track of exercise ๐Ÿ™‚

So, now you know what I do. Nothing hard, nothing out of the ordinary, but you can do it too!

I do take a diet pill, but just so you know I lost between 5-8 pounds before I even went to the doctor to help me. When I first started my weight-loss I was 198 pounds. I had no energy, what so ever. That is the reason I reached out for help. Here I am 4 months or so later and 30 pounds lighter. I don’t take the diet pill everyday. I take it for 3 months, then off for 3 months.

People who start loosing weight buy a scale and stand on it religiously, well I don’t. I do not weight myself till I go to the Doctor for a check up on my weight loss. I don’t want to disappoint myself with looking at a scale if I gained 1 pound one day! I believe that you can weigh yourself maybe 1x a month, but your body will gain and loose weight. Don’t get discouraged if you gain a few pounds, just keep doing what you are doing. Your body is adjusting ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyone could lose weight, all they have to do is figure out if it is really important to them. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!!

July’s Weight Loss Update

It has been a month since I posted about my personal challenge of weight loss. I am currently off the diet pill and still working out when I can. I am still pushing myself to the limits as I see my goal before my eyes!

I went to the doctor for my weight loss check-up and I have lost another 5 pounds! – Hello, 167! That’s right! I would celebrate with some ice cream or brownies, but I have passed, but boy if it wasn’t tempting!

I also visited with my mom yesterday. Hubby had to go to class after the doctor’s appointment, so Jade and I spent the rest of the day with my mom. We went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant. Jade loves the chip and dip as much as I do. They even had a band playing right before it was time for us to leave. Jade even got up to dance, walked closer to see the band perform. However, we went back to the table to get our leftovers and the band followed us. Jade was okay with the little 4 man crew till they stepped closer to our booth. She was scared, and starting yelling, she pointed her finger to the door and said, “Go to TRUCK, Nana”, but the band backed a way a little bit and she seemed to be okay. It was a great time anyway. We left from the restaurant to go to my mom’s house. I helped with fixing her bark as the rain misplaced it in the cul-de-sac. Jade helped to by holding down the rocks in the neighbors flower bed.

Overall, yesterday was fun, but unfortunately all days have to come to an end.

How was your Wednesday?

I am always hoping…

Google Imageย 30 days of Truth is about bringing out the best in yourself. Also, to let people see the โ€œrealโ€ you through what you write. For thirty days I will write about myself, I will dig deep and I hope you can start this journey with me. 30 days of Truth; Are you ready!?

Day 05
โ€“ Something you hope to do in your life

  1. See my life unfold before my eyes, everything I want, or need to be right at my fingers tips.
  2. One day I can overcome the fear of speaking my mind, with some people.
  3. Continue setting my goals, and completing them.
  4. Complete some my bucket list, or all.
  5. My friends to be able to see the good in me, even when I have a bad day.
  6. Continue loving and trusting people, even though I have been through so much.
  7. Can get myself back to 120 pounds.
  8. Invite my friends over for cookouts, and gatherings.
  9. Being the best mom I can be.
  10. Be the best wife and mom

I could be here for days trying to complete something I hope to do in my life, but we all know the basics now. I hope you can figure out what you want to do in your life. We only have 1 life to live, and I hope you are enjoying your life to the fullest.

Lazy Night

Due to hubby being home it has been a lazy day, well, kind of.

I got up this morning, commented on some blog posts, washed dishes (by hand), cooked lunch, cleaned a little, took a nap on the couch, helped hubby with supper, went riding around with no goal intended (hubby will be working for 2 days, so might as well get out of the house today), and so it has been a great Lazy Day ๐Ÿ™‚

Google Imageย I did manage to cook up some squash!
– 3 to 4 med. Squash, cut into slices
– 3 Tbsp of low sodium butter (melted)
– add chicken bouillon cube till it is melted with butter
– add black pepper and salt to your liking
– pour over cut squash
– lay them out in a pan, evenly ๐Ÿ™‚
– Cook till brown on each side and it’s done!

I am still in the “lazy” kind of mood I decided to give Ruth’s idea of listing “favorite posts” ๐Ÿ™‚ I have been blogging a little over a month and half. It seems like forever ago, but sometimes it feels like yesterday! I have 23 subscribers, and gained a lot of “blogging friends” and for that I am grateful! Thanks to you guys, I would be just a normal fish out in the blogging sea.

Here is my favorite posts that I have done so far ๐Ÿ™‚

Five Question Friday

1. What is your favorite summer time activity?
I love spending time with family/friends, grilling out, swimming, and just having fun, and of course, reading ๐Ÿ™‚
I really like big gatherings, music blaring from the patio, a campfire, kids laughing in the background, and hearing lots of chatter.
2. Do you have one laundry soap you stick to, or do you buy whatever’s on sale?
I usually like anything that will make my house smell fabulous. I am also allergic to some laundry soap, so I have to be careful about switching all the time. Right now I am using Xtra.

3. What is your favorite dinner to make in the summer?
Hot dogs, kabobs, Grilled vegetables.. anything grill related?
On my dogs though I just like ketchup on the bottom and mustard on the top but on the side of the bun ๐Ÿ™‚
4. Do you have any talents?
I played Clarinet for 6 years. Now I can grow flowers, plus its a hobby too.

5. If you could instantly be an expert in something, what would it be? Why?
I would love to be an expert in making my blog successful, not making money, but bigger and getting to enough people. I would also think I would like to be an expert with computers, we all have them, and who needs to call someone else when You already know whats wrong ๐Ÿ˜‰

(I will start posting more soon, been busssssyyyy)

Frog Bites

Yesterday, Jade and I packed up to head to my moms. We got to my moms and Jade found Nanaโ€™s strawberries in the refrigerator. Jade would get the strawberries; peel the green leafs off, then find her way into the living room. Mom and I noticed Jade was eating the strawberries, but we werenโ€™t watching her very closely. Jade would eventually come back and ask for more. She would again peel the leaf off of the strawberries and would priss walk back into the living room.

As Mom and I finished eating our Chicken Wraps, washed the dishes, and put up the leftovers, Jade would come back in the kitchen to get some more strawberries. We all got into the living room to watch Did You Hear About the Morganโ€™s, all of us got nested into the couch or a chair when Jade kept finding more strawberries.

All image rights go to the Markers and Crew of the movie "Did You Hear About The Morgan's?"

My mom decides to try to find the strawberries, as Jade was hiding them behind her toy on the ottoman. Mom picked up the strawberries and every one of them had a โ€œfrog biteโ€. Mom told Jade that she needed to eat all the strawberries, just not little frog bites. Jade turns to look at her Nana as she says, โ€œNo! Iโ€™m alllllllll Donnnneee Nana!โ€. Needless to say, Jade never finished the strawberries.

Chicken Wraps
1 Whole Wheat Wrap
Rotisserie Chicken Strips (Shredded)
Salsa
Sour Cream
Cheese made with 2% milk
Place the Wrap into a skillet, or on a plate.
Cut strips from the Rotisserie Chicken
Spread Salsa and Cheese
Wait till Cheese is melted (On stove or Microwave)
Add Sour Cream last
Then wrap it up ๐Ÿ™‚ Of course you can add your own toppings ๐Ÿ™‚ You could even grill the wrap on the grill… mmmm make it crunchy!
Did You Hear About the Morganโ€™s I really enjoyed this movie. This is a great movie to watch with kiddos, (not really the beginning for kids, since there is shooting and a murder at the first), or to watch with your hubby. Grab a nice cup of Hot Chocolate, your Chicken Wrap, blanket, and begin your cozy night in ๐Ÿ™‚

May 29th Diet

Well, this month has been highs and lows ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
My motivation keeps slacking every time I turn around. This month its been bladder infections off and on for 2 weeks, not going to the bathroom like I should, a crappy womanly flow and just blah! I have been busy with all my projects but my motivation has been lacking. I want to get things done, but don’t feel the energy to find it. (Sorry if some of you are at a TMI moment)

So, What I ate today…

Breakfast: 1 cup cereal 1/2 cup 2% milk
Lunch: Nodda
Snack: Nodda
Dinner: Double Cheeseburger meal (only ate the burger and around 10 fries) with a sweet tea (Water is always gross there).

Exercise: my eyes when I go to sleep

I have tooooooo find my motivation!!! It is one of those jvnjfnvjnjnvjndv moments. HA! Tomorrow, will be another day to try to get my feet off the ground!
