Day 2 – Face to Face

One Month to Love!
This was an awesome book, check out my review and I wanted to share with y’all the “important” parts to me. This is by far not what the whole Day 1 is about, but just a glimpse of what I thought was catching, or needed to be shared. I will be going through each day, as this will be sorta like my “journal”.

There are 4 weeks involved:
Week 1: The Art of Being All There
Week 2: The Art of Acting Intentionally
Week 3: The Art of Risking Awkwardness
Week 4: The Art of Letting Go

Day 2 of Week 1: Face to Face

Face2Face

To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world. ~Brandi Snyder

For finally, we are as we love. It is love that measures our stature. ~William Sloane Coffin

The greatest gift you can give other people is your presence in their life.

When you choose to be all there for someone, you give them your most valuable possession: your time.

Hebrews 13:5 “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you”

God chooses to be all there for me no matter what I go through in life. God is never too busy. God is never preoccupied with something more important.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3

Lasting love thinking says, “If I’m serious about making sure the people I love know how I feel about them, I need to take the initiative to get together with them.”

Lasting Love Relationship Challenge
1) Last time you were with each of them (key relationships)?
2) An experience you had where someone’s unexpected presence meant a lot to you. Write some notes reflecting on this in your journal.
3) Make a “being-there” connection with one of your key relationships this week. Are you willing to do whatever it takes to spend some time together? Write your plan in your journal, and be specific.

In case you missed it:

Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art… It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival. ~C.S. Lewis

I don’t wish to be everything to everyone, but I would like to be something to someone. ~Javan

Key relationships, meaningful, essential people in your life, who are your three key people in your life.
Relationships aren’t machines. You can’t replace a broken part and be good to go.
Real love, whether romantic love, a close relationship, or a family relationship, happens long after first sight. Real love in relationships isn’t a magic ad; it’s a journey.

We have bought into the false idea that if we’re connected to huge numbers of people in cyberspace, we must be important and loved.
A real friend is someone who is with you – present in your life – someone who gives you their time, shares your hurt, and feels your ache.

With God all things are possible – Matthew 19;26

Three stages all relationships, whether a marriage, a family, or a friendship, go through: First Glance, Second Look and Lasting Love.

Lasting Love Relationship Challenge
1) Get a blank book – Journal (or website)
2) Write today’s date and list 3 Key Relationships you want to focus on
3) Commit one day a week to a Facebook Fast. Take this time to hand write a letter to a friend, or to meet a friend face to face for coffee. More ideas are at onemonthtolove.com
4) Think about inviting three/four friends to take the Lasting Love Relationship Challenge.

A letter to my Best Friend

Yeah I know, I have a lot of best friends and you guys know who you are, and don’t get jealous, your time will come to shine, Just Saying.

This letter is to a girl who I have known for 3 years. 3 years I have talked to this girl, we met through a virtual game, but regardless of that I know she is going to stay around. We usually talk about 1x a day, give or take. Sometimes it goes longer, but we try not to get it too far.

Lauren,

There is so much I say about you, and sometimes I don’t tell you enough how much you mean to me. I love you, I have loved you since the day I spoke to you, the first time I heard your laugh on voice. My lover for you is deep, permanent and not sexual, but you’re my best friend. It is a love that is true, so my true love to my best friend, my wifey.

I love you because…
– of your faults and unattractive behaviors.
You have shown me that regardless of our differences we have everything else in common.
– your strength is beyond amazing.
I have seen you grow (as a person) through everything life brought your way and that makes me love you even more.
– your flaws are a part of who you are and I wouldn’t want to change any of them.
– your character is fascinating.
All I can do is hope to continue to be a part of the awesome person of who you are, and continue to tell you how important you are in my life.

You are such an amazing person, protective, caring, loving, and supportive to me. You have stuck beside me since Day 1, when we first started talking. You have been there for me when I was in pain, in confusion, and when I needed an open ear about my family. You help me keep my sanity, and support me even when you are miles away. There is an emotional connection with you that I will never be able to change, even when our lives are so separate on their own.

If I could take you to the moon, I would. I trust you with everything I have, and everything I am. You are one of the few people I can truly open up to. I believe you truly know this and that you have known for a long time.

I often feel I don’t tell you how much I love you and thanked you for the support. You have been there for me, or how much you think I am a great mom,  you like my blog, or my weight loss journey, or how you checked on me when I needed someone the most. You know me like a book and well, Thank You.

You are truly an inspiration in my life. I guess this is why it has taken me so long to write you because I knew I wanted to say things I haven’t in a long time. I just wanted you to know how much you mean to me.

Thank you for being there, the memories, the long talks, and laughs. Thanks for being there when I was down or even my best of days. Thank you for being such a Best Friend a girl could have.

Don’t ever change who you are, because you’re a perfect person to me.

A Friend From Afar
by Natalie Kidd

A friend from afar
who thought you would be my shining star
you are patient and sweet even your generosity I would keep.
but when times are tough,
you are like a diamond in a rough.
You are strong and kind
what a friend I choose this time.
You are a friend;
a friend I would call to the very end.
How I miss my friend from afar
even though we would travel so far
to have one more moment
a moment of peace and tranquility,
You see, you are a special friend, a very special friend to me,
a friend with a personality… a friend to the end, You’ll be.

Day 2 – You Are Not An Accident

I like to hear other people’s ideas/thoughts. I will do this daily and want to stay focused. Please join in if you want to, but remember to bear with me and to be gentle because I will be posting my own thoughts and my own opinions. I am not here to debate God’s word, or have an argument over His word.

A lot of us come from families who are dysfunctional, right!? But it really does not matter what family you come from, whether your mom/dad were rich, or poor, whether their attitudes were great or selfish. They made you by DNA, but God molded you to what you are today.

Isaiah 44:2a (CEV)
I am your Creator. You were in my care even before you were born.

Psalm 138:8 (NKJV)
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

Psalm 139:15-16 (NKJV)
My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

Acts 17:26 (NKJV)
And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings

Ephesians 1:4-8 (NKJV)
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

James 1:18 (NKJV)
Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures.

Isaiah 45:18 (NKJV)
For thus says the Lord, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it,  Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the Lord, and there is no other.

1 John 4:8 (NKJV)
He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Isaiah 46:3-4 (NKJV)
“Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, And all the remnant of the house of Israel, Who have been upheld by Me from birth, Who have been carried from the womb: Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

You are who you are for a reason.
You’re part of an intricate plan.
You’re a precious and perfect unique design,
Called God’s special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb.
You’re just what He wanted to make.

The parents you had were the ones He chose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom-designed with God’s plan in mind,
And they bear the Master’s seal.

No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into His likeness you’d grow.

You are who you are for a reason,
You’ve been formed by the Master’s rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God!

by Russell Kelfer

Point to Ponder: I am not an accident
Verse to Remember: I am your Creator. You were in my care even before you were born.
Question to Consider: I know that God uniquely created me. What areas of my personality, background, and physical appearance am I struggling to accept?

I struggle with my weight. I don’t feel as pretty as I did, I don’t feel as strong. I often close off the world because I don’t feel important. I feel as though I am not good enough. I often play hard ball and put on a front when really I am screaming inside. I feel trapped in my own body. I feel as though I can talk until I am blue in the face and never be heard at all. I don’t feel like this all the time, but I do have my moments. I am real with my emotions.

God, I come to you today to give you the stuff I struggle with. I am sorry for struggling with something you made so perfectly. I know you will use it, just let me know how. I love you and I promise to be better with them and get going with Your Life for me. Amen.

Day 1 – It’s Not About Me

Time

Psalm 90:12
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

We often live life in the fast lane. We thrive off technology; often on our phones, computers, televisions, video games or iPods. We take tomorrow for granted. We sit back and continue doing whatever as time passes by. We get up without thinking it could be our last. Everyday we are here is another day taken off our life. We often fail to see the connection of our conduct and our eternal life. We have to be wise and know to live life to the fullest.

Romans 13:11
And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

What are you doing with your time?

Number our days; we do this a lot actually.
Weddings – We know the time, the date, and sometimes even the seconds till we say, “I do”
Due Date – We know when the child will arrive, or around what day.
Vacation – We plan, we mark our calendars

We will not make wise decisions of our time without God’s instructions. Wisdom should apply everyday in our life. We need to learn to teach ourselves to number our days, that we gain a heart of wisdom and fulfill purpose in our lives.

Start living your life as tomorrow is your last. Be grateful for everything you have today, even the bad. Stop and smell the roses. Do things today that you wished you should have done yesterday.

To Seek, To Require, To Desire

Jeremiah 29:11-13

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Prosper – Holistically
~We have a wealth of hope, peace, joy, patience, and love.
He wants us to have a relationship with Him; a relationship in which we experience His greatness. He wants us to be wealthy in our trust and faith in Him.

Seek in Hebrew is baqash – “to seek, to require, to desire” which means “To resort to”, or “to search”.

To seek and to search means to actively pursue God by reading His word and spending quality time in prayer.

Do you desire God’s direction for your career/Job, or are you holding on to the reins yourself?

Do your goals line up with seeking, desiring, and searching for God?

Invest In Someone

I look through this book that sits on my desk every once in awhile, just wondering what it says for today.

Joyce Meyer
Starting Your Day RightDevotions

January 25

The wicked borrow and pay not again [for they may be unable], but the [uncompromisingly] righteous deal kindly and give [for they are able].
– Psalm 17:21

Take chances today and invest in someone else’s life, especially if God tells you to do so. You may give them something of value only to learn they waste it as they have always done in the past. But remember that God made an investment in you, and He wants you to be willing to an investment in somebody else.
Jesus died to give everybody a chance. Not everyone takes advantage of His provision, but we all have an equal opportunity to enjoy the abundant of life. If you help someone, and they end up not doing what is right with it, that is between them and God. Give thanks that you are able to give, and then do whatever God tells you to do.

16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. – Colossians 3:16

God Almighty, thank you for giving us music! Singing moves my heart and inspires me to action. I ask that in every song that I find myself worshiping will be active in my heart to inspire me to holy living, ministry, and compassion. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
