To stop these awful things from happening, first, we need to talk about it. We need to stop shaming victims, and stop telling them to be silenced.

When victims of sexual abuse speak up, they need to be able to know where to go to start the process of healing. They need a list of advocates, lawyers, anyone who will help them heal from the inside out. They need to know they are not alone and the healing process is going to long-term. Nothing is ever cured on short-term bases.

Depression and Anxiety

I have depression and anxiety. Yup, I will admit it here. I have suffered with it for a long time, I just never talk about it. I don’t even take medicine for it, because I don’t want a pill helping me, I want to help myself. My anxiety comes from a number of places: my past, dealing with medical issues, just a lot of different things. I’m not one to say “I’m depressed today, leave me alone” or “I can’t do that due to my anxiety” or “Pray for me, my anxiety is bad“. I guess in a way, to me, if I said those things I would look at it as an excuse? Instead, I cover up with that excuse with something else.

Learn To Forgive

I know I have been writing a lot about forgiveness, but it is something that I have taught myself. It is something that I have seen with my own eyes, and felt the weight that stayed with me for so long. I love sharing my story and to give people hope. I love to give advice and maybe one day I help change someone’s views.

Did you know forgiveness lowers blood pressure?

The more you forgive – the more life satisfaction you will have.

Forgiveness is linked to less depression, less back pain, and lowers psychological problems – such as anger and Depression.
Being able to forgive some whole heartedly shows that you can change anger, and can lead to greater spiritual well-being.

Matthew 6:14-15 “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Today, why not write a letter to a friend or family telling them something. It doesn’t have to be about forgiveness it can just be a simple act of love.

Forgiveness isn’t just about the present. Forgiveness can be about your past.
You always have people to help raise you, but it is up to you to repeat your childhood or to learn from it and know how to change.
You can always respect the people for their bad times, and learn how to grow as a person. Just remember the person who treats you bad is just trying to make it through this life too.

Once you truly forgive someone, you will find peace. You will truly understand how much weight you was carrying for so long. You will be able to start to forgive not only others, but yourself.

If you go around looking for the bad in people you will find it. The bible says
Philippians 4:8
“Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent, or praise worthy – think about such things.”

Control your thinking and learn to forgive others instead of being critical. You can choose a new attitude. We all need to redirect our focus, so why not start today.
